Pensieve: PREVIEW Magazine's back-to -back bonanza ball!

This year the PREVIEW Magazine team has really outdone itself by throwing it's annual Best-Dressed Ball over two nights.

Actress and fashionphile Iza Calzado graces the cover of PREVIEW Magazine's July 2011 Best-Dressed issue. Shameless Plug: Grab yourself a copy!!! The Trend Report was illustrated by Yours Truly!!!

Party Number 1: July 7, 2011; PREVIEW x TOPSHOP; Opus Bar and Lounge

Super-sized LED screens illuminate the crowd.
The Theme of the Topshop party was 'British High Street', a nod to the London-based brand's tenth year in Manila. I must commend the PREVIEW team for its genius choice of illumination: LED screens that flashed make-up tips and the latest fashion trends. Aaaand, it provided extra lighting for guests to check out other party-goers' outifts and make-up.

Aside from the raffle prizes, glitzy guests, open bar and general sense of good-natured frivolity, another main attraction was the party's line up of celebrity DJ's.

The event was hosted by top model and Pinoy Rock Royalty, Sanya Smith.
First up, Supertar DJ Mars Miranda. Guests shimmied to the tunes of our fave Brit pop acts like All Saints and Craig David.
Next to hit the deck was editorial model, runway favorite and professional dj Ornusa Cadness. Not only is this stunner easy on the eyes, but she has great taste in music! Ornusa played tracks that transported you to a London Punk Rave. Her music brought a feel of true gritty Brit underground.
And did I mention that her photograph appears on a Topman shirt? Yeah huh! Check it out on Topman's Website!!!
Finally, actor/model/singer/endorser Sam Milby adds dj to his already extensive resume. The crowd went even wilder as Sam spun the latest club hits.

The event was a success! Energy was up, fashion was forward, drink was a plenty and guests were more than hap hap happy.

Okay, now that I'm writing this, I'm kicking myself for not taking my camera. You can check out pics from the party (and other tips and updates) on PREVIEW's facebook page.

Party Number 2: July 8, 2011, BEST-DRESSED BALL, 7th High

If the Topshop party of the previous night transported the crowd to a different place, then by George did the Best-Dressed Ball bring us all to a different Era-era-uh!!!

Best-Dressed Ball 2011. Yep, that's a drag queen. I LIIIVEEEE!!!
Replete with faux tropical trees, disco balls, drag queens and lucite centerpieces, 7th High was completely transformed into a 70's oasis. The peg was Coco Banana, the place to be in 70's Manila, our very own Studio 54. It really was like stepping into a time machine! DJ Mars Miranda provided the groovy tunes for guests to jive to that evening. Speaking of the gueststhey did not disappoint!!! Everyone came in their best disco glam inspired outfit. (At this point I am again kicking myself, for I did bring a camerawhose battery was not charged. Again, please click the link above to check out pics of the gorgeously groovy guests)

The event was hosted by stylista and eventologist Raymond Guiterrez and Manila's current 'it' girl Georgina Wilson. The event also honored 2011's Best-Dressed women (all of whom you can catch in this month's issue).

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the disco vibe, free-flowing drinks, far-out music and even further out fashion, it was the entertainmentin the form of contortionists and drag queensthat really brought it home for me.

I mean, COME ON, contortionists AND Drag Queens?! It must be my birthday.

Presenting the Slinky Sisters, contortionists extraordinaire!
The Supremesss!!!
Dreamgirlzzzz!!!

The glamorous queens put on a a disco-inspired set of our favorite 70's hits that would make RuPaul proud.

This event, like the Topshop party, was undeniably a hit! I am still gagging on the extravaganzza and eleganzza. Guests were exposed to enough bell-bottoms, sheer, sequins, shine and fringe to last them a lifetime!
From Left: Eloise Alba, PREVIEW Managing Editor and KC Concepcion, actress, singer, advocate, endorser, UN ambassador (for realz!); and moi! Thanks again to Sandro Paredes for the pic!

It may be hard, but I have faith in the PREVIEW team to top even this year's Ball(s).

Til next year!

SHAZZAAM!!!
